RE Cluster Workshop and Meetings
The two key RE Cluster groups, the Research Leaders (RL) and Deans and Directors of Graduate Studies (DDoGS) will be meeting at University College Dublin (UCD) from 21-22 March 2017. The U21 Provost, Professor Bairbre Redmond, will open the meeting with a joint session before the two groups hold parallel meetings.
In addition, the DDoGS will be hosting a pre-meeting Workshop at UCD on 20 March 2017 on the theme of ‘The Future of the Doctorate’.
Research Leaders meeting
All senior colleagues directly involved in oversight of research, research impact, collaborations and connections with industry are invited to attend the RL meeting. Best practice will be shared along with discussions covering matters related to global research matters such as international research connections, development opportunities for Early Career Researchers, impact and integrity.
Deans and Directors of Graduate Studies meeting
All senior colleagues directly involved in oversight of Graduate Schools, graduate student experience and mobility are welcome to attend the DDoGS meeting. The group will discuss activities and priorities for graduate development and look to share best practice across the U21 network.
Pre-meeting Workshop hosted by the DDoGS
In what has become a regular addition to the DDoGS meeting, there will be a pre-meeting workshop for DDoGS colleagues, this year on the theme of ‘The Future of the Doctorate’. In addition to U21 DDoGS representatives, Deans of Graduate Studies from across Ireland have also been invited to attend.
While the full programme is still being worked on and will be available nearer the date of the workshop, we can confirm that Professor Bob Harris, Central Director of Doctoral Education at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden will be the Keynote speaker at the workshop.
- Sunday 19 March – there will be a reception in the Herbert Park Hotel for all delegates attending the DDoGS workshop on Monday 20 March.
- Monday 20 March – there will be an informal dinner in the Herbert Park Hotel for all delegates.
- Tuesday 21 March – there will be a formal conference dinner at the Mansion House in Dublin City Centre for all delegates
Colleagues at UCD have reserved a block of rooms at the Herbert Park Hotel (http://www.herbertparkhotel.ie/) in Ballsbridge, which is located between the UCD Belfield Campus and Dublin City Centre. Transportation will be provided for delegates between the Herbert Park Hotel and all meeting and social venues.
Rooms are available at €150 per night B&B single occupancy, €165 per night B&B double occupancy – please fill out the booking form (available as an attachment at the bottom of the page) and email to email@example.com to reserve your room. Rooms must be booked by 20 January 2017, after which all rooms reserved for the meeting and not booked will go on public sale. Rooms can be cancelled for a full refund up to 30 days prior to arrival.
