The U21 Award

Alongside the Gilbert Medal, U21 members have the opportunity to nominate colleagues within the network for a U21 Award for Internationalisation.

These awards recognise individual efforts towards particularly innovative or extraordinary projects, which further internationalisation, or a sustained and prolonged contribution to building relations between U21 members to support internationalisation.

The U21 Awards recognise:

  • collaborative working both within the university and with external partners.

  • demonstrable impact of activities undertaken by the nominee.

  • leadership, innovation and sustainability of activity.

  • how the nominee has built on standard practices in internationalisation.

  • the effectiveness of the nominee in supporting the university’s internationalisation agenda.

Up to two U21 Awards are presented each year. The award itself is a hand-crafted glass trophy, which is presented to the winners during the Annual Presidential Meeting.  All nominees will receive a letter of recognition from the Provost of U21.
