U21 and ARUA sign Memorandum of Understanding

Universitas21 and the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) have announced the joint signing of a three-year Memorandum of Understanding. This will establish a network-to-network partnership, with the aims of supporting higher education through research collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The intention is to create an annual programme for members of ARUA and U21 encompassing research collaborations and joint events such as symposia, virtual learning opportunities for both staff and students at member institutions and the possibility of student competitions.

Signing on behalf of their respective organisations were Professor Ernest Aryeetey, the Secretary-General of ARUA and Professor Jenny Dixon, Provost of Universitas21.

The alliance will also include a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through joint activities and will provide an opportunity for the two networks to seek funding for specific projects, mobility opportunities and professional development for their members.

More news on the partnership will follow shortly.
